I’m Exhausted from Relaxing, lol!

We’ve had a really great weekend.  In fact, we had so much fun we could almost use another day to recover from all of the partying, for Pete’s sake.  Everyone should have this complaint.

Here are a handful of pictures from Saturday, which we spent with friends who invited us to their lake house, about an hour’s drive or so from here.  I think I’ve mentioned before that our kids have great taste in friends, and Allie has been friends with Erin for quite awhile.  We think Erin is an amazing young woman for many reasons, and since she didn’t get that way without a lot of guidance and help, you can imagine why we might like her parents so much!  Erin and her brother invited several friends each this weekend, and so there was quite a gang of teenagers hanging out together and having tons of fun.  They went boating and tubing, played corn hole, tried some kayaking, played a little ping pong and air hockey (and maybe some Twister–I saw it out on the floor but never saw whether it got used), watched a movie, and laughed a whole lot.  Personally, my idea of fun was sitting by the side of the water and watching the kids, taking a few photos, and chatting.  Yes, I did go out on the water, but mostly I just sat and relaxed.

So here the kids are, right after we arrived, hoisting the trampoline floaty thing down to the water.  (For some reason, I am having sizing issues today with WordPress.  Believe me when I say these pictures are sharp as a tack on my computer, but when I put them into WP, they won’t behave for me. So, sorry about the fuzziness.)

Then they did some tubing.  For the uninitiated, that means clinging to the sides of a raft or inner tube while being pulled through the water by a boat.  Major fun–if you can stay on.  If you can’t, I hear the water feels a lot harder than it looks when you hit at 25 mph.  The older guys, below, were nice enough to put Danny in the middle and hold him on when necessary.  You know, ’cause they’ve got the big guns, and Danny’s biceps are still 10-year-old sized.

Now here is a brilliant activity for a gang of teens.  If you ask them to clean their rooms, where’s the incentive, right?  But if you ask them to make dessert, and if that happens to involve making balls of ice cream with chocolate in the center and rolled in Oreos and Nutter Butters, they’re in!  Please note:  they all washed their hands first, and being as our hosts were two docs, those handling the ice cream wore surgical gloves for the rolling portion of the program, and the ice cream balls had tongue depressors in them for sticks.

(They guys did the cookie crushing.  Because it’s almost always a guy’s role to provide the muscle, do the grilling, drive the boat, and take out the trash.  Oh, and to kill any spiders that come around inside the house.)

No, she didn’t really lick it!

Once dessert was under control, it was back to the lake for more tubing.

Izzy and Abby, the family’s dogs, love the water, too.  Izzy thinks that every time someone jumps off the tube or the boat, they need to be saved, so she dashed into the water to save T. when he jumped off the boat and headed for shore.

Of course, it can be tiring guarding people all day while they are in the water.  Izzy and Abby didn’t rest much, but a couple of times I guess a little lie-down seemed irresistible to one or the other of them.

I thought I’d throw in a picture of the flora . . .

. . .  and fauna

Hope you had a great Saturday, too.  Next post:  pictures from a puppy party!
